DSAGC 2025 Buddy Walk - Kannapolis NC

The 28th Annual Greater Charlotte Buddy Walk | Kannapolis, NC

The 28th Annual Greater Charlotte Buddy Walk at the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers Ballpark was nothing short of incredible. From the moment the gates opened, the entire day was filled with joy, connection, and a community coming together to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome and the families who love them.

With over 80 teams in attendance, the ballpark was alive with color, music, laughter, and so many unforgettable moments. It’s hard to put into words just how special the day felt — but these images come close.

One of the most magical parts of the Buddy Walk is seeing the pure excitement on the kids’ faces. Whether they were dancing to the music, meeting their favorite heroes, or running the bases on their field, every moment was filled with pride and joy. Watching the kiddos round the bases — cheers echoing, smiles stretched ear to ear — may have been one of my favorite moments of the entire day.

A huge shoutout goes to the Be Your Own Hero Cosplayers, who brought so much heart to the event. Seeing children light up as superheroes came to life right in front of them was pure magic. The time, care, and joy you brought to every interaction meant more than words can say.

The energy of the day wouldn’t have been complete without DJ Eric Skidlin, who kept the music going and the smiles coming. From dancing teams to laughing kids, the joy was contagious from start to finish.

And then there’s the impact. Together, this incredible community raised $153,900 for the Greater Charlotte Buddy Walk. That number represents so much more than dollars — it reflects love, advocacy, inclusion, and the power of showing up for one another.

This event is a reminder of why inclusion matters, why community matters, and why capturing these moments year after year is such an honor. These photos aren’t just documentation — they’re memories, legacy, and proof of what’s possible when people come together with open hearts.

Thank you to everyone who walked, donated, volunteered, cheered, danced, and made this day unforgettable.

Interested in event photography in the Charlotte or Lake Norman area? Whether it’s a community event, nonprofit fundraiser, or celebration centered on connection and purpose, I’d love to help tell your story through meaningful images.

Encore - More from the Gigi's Gala...

Back home from an amazing trip and so ready for some sleep — but I couldn’t resist sharing one more GiGi’s post before calling it a night!
This year’s GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte Gala was absolutely incredible, and reliving these moments has me smiling all over again. The joy, the energy, the love — it’s everything I adore about this community.
The remaining images will be available within the next couple of weeks. Thank you all for your patience — I have quite a few from this event, a few more session, and from our trip to edit and upload, but I promise they’ll be worth the wait!

Gigi's Playhouse Charlotte - Gala

GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte Gala 2025
My amazing apprentice, Ellie, and I had the absolute honor of photographing the GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte Gala 2025 this past weekend! This marks our third year attending and working with this incredible organization, and I couldn’t be happier to be involved with their mission of “Seeing the World Through an Inclusive Lens.”
It was such a fun and inspiring night celebrating and supporting GiGi’s, surrounded by so many amazing people in the Down syndrome community who work tirelessly to make this world a better, brighter place for some truly incredible individuals.
This year’s “Around the World” fashion show was epic, the live auction was a blast (with some huge prizes!), and the dance floor? Let’s just say no one wanted the night to end — these kids literally had to be pulled off!

I’m so thankful for nonprofits like GiGi’s Playhouse that support and empower these families I’ve come to know and love. Please keep them in mind when you’re looking to volunteer or donate — and come join us next year for the celebration!
