PSA - Back it up, Back it up, Back it up!

Please! Take it from me! Back up your important files and your pictures! I recently deleted my family's entire 2011 folder of images. Hundreds of special memories gone! My heart beat fast, a lump began to grow in my throat and I held back the tears. My husband was watching my expression and thought that I had been reading an email about someone dying. That is exactly how I felt! I had the files on 2 external hard drives but made a mistake while reorganizing and deleted them both. Thank heavens for me I also had an online backup system in place and after some trials and tribulations acquiring the correct files (my fault, not theirs) we were able to find most of them including these sweet images below of my sweet baby girls. I am so lucky that these memories are not lost forever and want to pass on the message of my terrifying adventure to remind all of you to back up what is special to you! Thank you Backblaze!!!

I can not tell you how much I love it when grandparents join in on a photo session with their grand-babies. I treasure the few images that I have with my grandmother and I together and love giving others that gift. Here is grandma with her three little angels...

I love when I meet a new family and feel instantly connected with them. From the moment I entered the home my family today I felt as if I had known them for years. Our main subject Andrew, is the youngest of three adorable boys and my newest baby planner. He was the perfect little subject for his three month session this morning. He must have taken lessons from his two big brothers Max and Alex who were expert models and wonderful photographer's apprentices. I am so excited to show off a few of my favorites from today and can not wait to head back to show them the rest once they are ready! Thank you so much Amanda and Mike for making me feel so welcome. I have known Amy and Dan for quite some time now. It has been such a pleasure to get to know them not only as photography clients but has friends. They have had their share of trial and tribulations but never cease to amaze me with their strength and Grace through out everything that comes their way. Our very first meeting together was almost five years ago when they brought their newborn baby boy to me for his first portraits. Fast forward to now and they are now a family of 5! Amy posted a beautiful blog post featuring our past sessions this past summer that I can not help but share with you, It actually brought my to tears. Yesterday, we met again to photograph their newest edition to the family, sweet baby Grace. Just like her big brother and sister she is just perfect. Things may be a little crazy at the W household with three children ages 4.5 years, 7 months, and 11 days but once again Amy and Dan are taking it in stride and just living on the moment. I am truly inspired by you both and am so happy to have become a part of your lives! I love you guys! Congratulations once again and I hope you love your sneak peek! We have TONS more to come! :)

Eighteen month old boys sure are busy! Little man Jack was no exexception. LOL
I met up with him and his mommy and daddy this past weekend in Mt. Ulla NC. Mother Nature gave us some chilly weather and poor guy had a bit of a cold but he is so darn cute even that didnt stop us!

My husband's brother and his family drove in from Texas to celebrate the New Year with us here in North Carolina. We all had an absolutely wonderful time together! I first met Amanda and Lee in November for their Maternity Portrait Session. We had a great time doing an urban style session downtown Mooresville. They were such a fun sweet couple and gorgeous to boot. After our shoot I waited anxiously for news that sweet Lillian had arrived. On December 16th I saw on facebook that she had made her debut and could not wait to meet her. Yesterday was her Newborn session and she was the perfect little model. Eleven day old Lilly slept like an angel for me and looked just as beautiful as one too. Congratulations Amanda and Lee on the birth of your sweet princess. She is perfect in every way and seeing the three of you together is absolutely heartwarming. Anyone can plainly see that you are both head over heals in love with the newest member of your family. Huntersville Newborn Photographer - {The best Christmas Gift ever!}

Yesterday I had a photoshoot with 6 subjects; mommy, daddy and four children ages six, four, almost two and the newest edition newborn baby Oliver, just nine days old. This age grouping can strike fear in the heart of many photographers or at least a bit of apprehension. Not me! I ADORE this family and could not wait to head to my friend Carrie's house to see my little buddies and to meet their brand new baby brother. They did not disappoint! Sweet Oliver, quite accustomed to the hustle and bustle of a busy household slept like a dream through just about everything and his older sister and brothers who are absolutely in love with him where super excited for each of their turns to hold and snuggle him. Carrie your little family is absolutely perfect. My time with you has definitely strengthened my decision that I want one more! ;) With out further ado here is a sneak peak of just a few of the many images we captured yesterday! I am so excited!

Today I had the pleasure of meeting proud new parents Adrienne and Max and their sweet baby boy Rhys. They became a family of three just three weeks ago. Mommy, Daddy and I pulled out every trick we had to get our little star to dose but he was simply not having it. He did not want to miss a moment of his photo shoot. Despite this everything worked out perfectly. Just look at those stunning blue eyes! Can you blame him for wanting to show them off? :) Thanks so much Adrienne and Max. I had such a fun time with sweet little Adalay. She reminded so much of my own sweet Sammi I just wanted to pick her up and hug her all through her photo shoot. It was pretty cold out so we grabbed a few shots by the old Mill and before heading back to the house so she could warm up. This actually worked out great as they had a beautiful Christmas Tree and our sweet baby girl was much happier once thawed out. Christa it was such a please to meet your adorable family! Sergio and the girls and I are visiting my family up here in Massachusettes and having a great time! They are the only grandchildren so of course they are getting loads of lovn and attention all around. On Thanksgiving my two aunts and my uncle joined us for a fantastic turkey feast.

I am always super excited to get to work with this stunning family, but was literally chomping at the bit when they told me that they wanted to do an equestrian themed session of the twins. (yes, dorky pun intended. LOL) I love themed sessions and have been wanting to do a session with horses for awhile now. As usual these baby girls did not disappoint! Not only are they two of the cutest little things that I have ever seen but they are always so much fun to work with. Davidson Family Photographer - {Carrington is One!}

Our session yesterday morning did not begin as we had expected. It was quite cold and our normally very happy little girl was just not herself. A little teething wasn't helping and the outlook was bleak. But... a little patience, change of scenery, some teething tablets and heat and we had our happy kiddos again and had an awesome session! Before I post Carrington's one year sneak peak lets do a little flash back to her.. maternity, birth, newborn, 3, 6, and 9 month photo shoots.

Mama really wanted a family portrait to mark Carrington's 1st Birthday. I think we nailed it! :)

My friend Carrie was on the fence about doing a Maternity Session. As her due date crept closer and closer it hit her that she would truly regret it if she did not do it. Cuthbertson High Senior Portraits - {Andrew downtown Waxhaw}

My travels today led me to Waxhaw, N.C. for some senior pics. I had no idea what an incredibly fun photo shoot the day had in store for me. Andrew, my subject for the day is 17, attends Cuthbertson High,
has traveled across the world before the age of 10, plays baseball and is a complete doll! His hometown of Waxhaw made for an amazing backdrop and we had a perfect day! Our session lasted for two entire hours and I only stopped because I knew how incredibly difficult it was already going to be to narrow down which images to edit. Family Photographer in Charlotte N.C. - {Noah}

I had an absolute blast yesterday running around the botanical gardens in Charlotte with my buddy Noah. I first met Noah and his family when I was pregnant with my first child. Noah was just two at the time and about half the size he is today. I can not believe how quickly time flies and thoroughly enjoyed reconnecting with this sweet family. Fall Portraits in the Mountains - {Austin}

Inspired by a post on North Carolina's Facebook page about the amazing fall foliage in the mountains this season I put up a note on my own page about wanting to do a photo session there. I was beyond thrilled when a client of mine immediately responded saying that her family would be headed to Hot Springs N.C for the weekend. Both of our husbands thought that I was a bit crazy driving three hours each way for pictures but it was SOOOOOO worth it! I was in awe as I took my scenic drive up and up and up... to meet the W family. Not only were we surrounded by a simply breathtaking backdrop all around us but I had an amazing time hanging out with them. Austin is hysterical and absolutely adorable. The camera adores him! It was so much fun to get to see him again! He has grown so much since the last time I saw him! Jim and Renee, I am so happy that today fell into place for us so perfectly! Last but certainly not least of my mini sessions was this beautiful little princess! Morgan, is another one of my little ones that I first met when she was still in mommy's belly at their maternity session. I can not believe how quickly all these teeny tiny babies are growing up! Meet my three sweet little buddies, Lilly, Sam and Ben. Not only are they SUPER adorable and oh so sweet but they were PERFECT listeners for their session! My second Fall Mini Session on Sunday was this sweet little fella, Hoke. This was our second session together and he was just as perfect this time as he was the first. Some of you may remember by post back in July about two sweet boys from the Ukrain who where in need of an adoptive family. Here is the original post in case you missed it. I am very excited to announce that these two wonderful young men have a family! The family who hosted them over the summer is in the process of bringing them home as the newest members of their family. They are SO very excited! Yesterday was so much fun! I met up with Colleen the winner of a SnookySmiles Photography Digital Portrait Collection from the CMOM (Charlotte Moms of Multiples) Fall auction and her Beautiful Family! Colleen is mommy to two of the cutest little two years old twins; Cole and Ella. Just as expected this pair played the part of two very active busy two year olds and I loved every minute! Getting to let children be themselves playing outside and having fun and allows me to really capture their true personalities! We played around downtown Davidson and then headed to the Molly McKay Youth House, to check out some Pumpkins. Thanks so much Y family for such a great time! When I first met Gabby she was about 10 years old. A very shy quiet girl that I heard utter about 6 words total in the first few years that I knew her. LOL. I can not believe that this stunning creature is that same child. She is no longer a shy little girl but is now a beautiful young woman both inside and out. Gabby has been dancing for about as long as she can remember so I was of course super excited when she told me that she wanted to add a dance theme to her senior portrait session. It was such a perfect fit for her and she makes one stunning ballerina!

Despite the fact that I have been doing freelance photography for over four years now I still get butterflies every time I go to meet a new client. Tonight was no different. On my way to Downtown Davidson where we decided to meet I was filled with excitement and nervous energy. I had been looking forward to getting to meet the H family for quite some time now and they were certainly worth the wait! :)

Mama, Cammie had found me through Inspiration through art (formerly known as the littlest hero project) and had seen the work I had done for several of her friends who also have children with DS. Getting to spend time with her, her baby boy Zach and her beautiful daughter Taylor tonight was such delight! I had a great time chatting with Cammie and playing with Taylor but the highlight of my evening (besides Zach's sweet smile) was getting hugs and snuggles from this adorable little man. Cammie, your little guy took a piece of my heart home with him tonight! I am so happy to have met you and hope you love looking at your portraits as much as I enjoyed creating them for you! I LOVED this girl! Last night I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Crystal, her step mother, father, and sweet little sister Emily. They were just the sweetest family! We were having such a great time that I didn't want to stop shooting, but it gets a little tricky to get that perfect light after the sunsets. LOL
Not only is Crystal beautiful but she is an amazing girl who had us all cracking up through out our entire session. We also had a chance to chat quite a bit and she told me that she aspires to become a radiologist because breast cancer runs in her family and she wants to be involved in researching a cure.
